FAQ: Does reflux cause cough, sore throat, sinus disease, dental decay or any other problem not directly related to the oesophagus
There is extensive debate and much literature on possible "extra-oesophageal" symptoms causes by reflux - that is more then the typical heartburn and regurgitation. The answer cannot be covered in a few words - but for a small proportion - probably yes. The diagnosis can be difficult and it is not sensible to proceed to an operation for reflux based on a "guess" that reflux or indeed "silent reflux" might be involved.
